a fair distance. Not too far because we could be plastered by a freight train at any time. This train goes under one of the biggest monuments in Ireland

It's not actually used all that much and is a walk in the park. It's only 700 or so metres long. The chances of getting hit by a train are very slim. The odds of two trains coming at once are extremely small. Even if that happens the tunnel has alcoves built in to the walls so you can step out of the way.
